Right im almost getting up to date. The post Im about to write is last weeks. The piece I have chosen to look at today is by a photographer I came across during a project introduction i couple of months ago. His name is Mark Cant and the work that we referenced was in terms of lighting for technical workshops. This piece is separation of light and i think the image is really striking and the styling is bold and interesting. It was really helpful to reference when taking my own separation as the lighting is very clear.

The next image I found is from his portfolio on the aop website and was taken for mode magazine. I chose this particular image as it just really stood out among the others. The models eyes are so piercing even with the slight movement in the image causing it to appear slighting hazy. Both images are from http://www.image-folio.com/

Once again this post is late! but never mind. the piece of work i have chosen this week is something that i came across on the dazed and confused website. the piece has been created for Youth Music Week organised by children's music charity Youth Music. they teamed up with Rankin and 70 musicians and artists to destroy their own portraits to celebrate Youth Music's 10th Birthday. People involved where names such as Joe Strummer, Ian Brown, Marianne Faithfull, Andre 3000, Michael Stipe and Kylie Minogue as well as bands like Pete and the Pirates, The Enemy and The View.
Most of the portraits have been 'destroyed' by the artists themselves. Debbie Harry chose to burn, masked out, paint and stitched-up her picture to make a series of six portraits. For some of the portraits artists such as Damien Hirst were asked to paint over the portrait, reflecting his feelings of the person photographed. Youth Music and Rankin's Destroy project are being exhibited in the Phillips De Pury in London. Twenty of the 'Destroy' portraits including Damien Hirst’s ‘Joe Strummer’ are being auction on November 14, hosted by Rankin and Simon De Pury. As well as the exhibition, a 1,000 limited edition hardback book has been produced that is available from Youth Music.

I think this is a really interesting project and collaboration. The project creates original works of art and an exhibition with great variety. I have chosen the portrait of little boots as i think the original photograph is striking and the destroyed image is bold and graphic. Both images are form http://dazeddigital.com/Photography/gallery/27/5791/19/Destroy_by_Rankin.

http://www.fashion-ation.net/?page=4. Had such a busy week which is why this post is later than normal. been having 10 hours days at uni trying to get everything printed and i have still have quite a lot to do but Im getting there. I was researching for my DISP project the other day when i was told about some images that had been in Vogue last year of Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter that were sort of along the lines of what Im creating so i had a look and i think there brilliant. The piece was caller "Tales of the unexpected" and the photographs were taken by Tim Walker and were published in the December 2008 issue. This particular series of images is inspired by Dahl’s successful short story collections titled “Tales of the Unexpected”. Some of the images are accompanied with quotations from some of Dahl’s famous books. Models were mixed in with actors as they piece was more about capturing the characters than just simply posing. I think that these images are really successful in capturing the short tales and portraying both Tim Burton and Hellena Bonham Carter in a way that suits their character. i think they are well worth a look if you haven't seen the series already.

I have been struggling to think of something to write about this week but in the PPRD lecture we were looking at different agencies on the internet and this photographer really stood out to me. His name is Solve Sundsbo, and his fashion work is very distinctive. The series i particularly like is the one that i have taken this image from. i really like the movement he has captured and the fluidity of the fabric. It creates really interesting shapes and lines across the frame.

My first ever post. . .

Well here goes. . . i have had a pretty tough week or so doing lots of shoots and long days of printing. I found it quite hard to think of a photographic highlight this week as i feel like i haven't seen much as i have been completely absorbed in uni work and the fact that this is my first blog. Im hoping it will get better the more i write. a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRGlN5D6KrX62EgXpdVDzO4ubCkOl87Nb7CUikwiA9zp6OdORH1ex0adaxKJ6JdNdEwNN7OHzR1Zi7ZVhKFvJ7lm8t-n1LYT2R5bLz5hdrwd9TeHZ4ABj7_uftORwgquENDOlaXIm5brg/s1600/blog+image+edited.jpg">
So i have decided to include one of my own images as my highlight of the week. Its from my high key shoot taken wednesday last week. Its my highlight because i was really happy with the styling, but unfortunately i didn't get the background lighting completely right for the 120 film copy which meant it was not usable for my project, but in this digital image it appears exactly how i had wanted. I have fortunately have since been able to re-shoot.
