Most of the portraits have been 'destroyed' by the artists themselves. Debbie Harry chose to burn, masked out, paint and stitched-up her picture to make a series of six portraits. For some of the portraits artists such as Damien Hirst were asked to paint over the portrait, reflecting his feelings of the person photographed. Youth Music and Rankin's Destroy project are being exhibited in the Phillips De Pury in London. Twenty of the 'Destroy' portraits including Damien Hirst’s ‘Joe Strummer’ are being auction on November 14, hosted by Rankin and Simon De Pury. As well as the exhibition, a 1,000 limited edition hardback book has been produced that is available from Youth Music.

I think this is a really interesting project and collaboration. The project creates original works of art and an exhibition with great variety. I have chosen the portrait of little boots as i think the original photograph is striking and the destroyed image is bold and graphic.
